Centennial Canoe Outfitters Inc.

Centennial Canoe Outfitters Inc. has been providing river adventures since 1985 and boasts a spotless safety record. To ensure your safety on the trip, they will provide a 30-point safety talk and paddling instruction at the start of every adventure. They offer fully outfitted and guided boat trips in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming on 9 different rivers.

All of the guides have received First Aid and CPR training. Many also hold Wilderness First Responder, Swift Water Rescue, and American Canoe Association certifications. Their safety is a top priority, and their guides are highly qualified; all of the Head Guides have paddled more than 500 miles on rivers and many have paddled over 1500 kilometers. They’re also excellent chefs, so don’t worry about being underwhelmed by the food after a day on the river.

The scenery is all thanks to Mother Nature. The canyons, sunsets, fires, animals, and shooting stars are all part of the deal, so you might want to bring your camera. Water fights, hikes, and campfire songs contribute to fantastic memories and a unique friendship among everyone who goes. A trip will guarantee that you have tales to tell for many years.

The company runs concessions on national forests and other federal lands. The company offers activities on public lands under a special permit from the Bureau of Land Management. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has approved Centennial Canoe Outfitters Inc. as a river outfitter.

It’s usually easier to describe what you won’t observe. Minke whales, Dall and harbor porpoises, harbor seals, and river otters are a few of the more prevalent sightings. The San Juans boast the second largest breeding population of bald eagles in the lower 48 states, with additional birds including terns, gulls, ducks, various alcids, and a variety of others. Gray whales were spotted as well last summer; we were privileged enough to glimpse a juvenile humpback whale, pilot whales, elephant seals, and California sea lions.

The distance you will travel in each day is determined by the journey, but it’s generally between 7 and 10 miles per day. Paddling 12 miles in one day is the greatest distance you may go on a single excursion. Their trips are geared toward beginners, so they’re not out there to make “mega-miles.” On the third day of their 5-day voyage, our visitors have the option of going for a hike, an evening paddle, or simply relaxing around camp.
